Dermatology is based on 2 site, Singleton and Neath Port Talbot. The post holder will work within a busy outpatient setting predominantly based in Singleton but may be required to cross cover in Neath Port Talbot dermatology unit.
The Health care support workers role within dermatology is clinic maintenance, this will include facilitating the smooth running of clinics, acting as a chaperon for Doctors and clinicians. Accurately record patients observations and report results to requesting clinician.
The post holder will also assist patients while in the department with any mobility needs, Maintaining patients privacy and dignity.
The post holder will be required to answer the phone and take messages and escalate to the appropriate person.
The post holder may be required to assist with minor procedure acting as the clinician assistance ie, opening sterile packs
Under direct supervision, the post holder may be required to assist with the application of topical emollients and remove dressings prior to assessment., The successful applicant will be required to participate in patient care by assisting clinicians in Dermatology clinics and our day case procedure rooms. Duties include ensuring patient comfort and alleviating patient anxiety, undertaking patient observations, assessment and investigations, communication with patients and their relatives, assisting surgeons in our procedure rooms as well as administrative tasks. As a team we endeavour to help staff learn and develop their knowledge and skills so as to enable individuals to feel confident in their role and achieve job satisfaction. We work in a friendly team-orientated environment and have good working relationships with multidisciplinary team members. Working hours will be 30 hrs per week and will be in line with service needs between 8am to 5pm on a Monday to Friday basis. We currently do not work bank holidays or night duty and days off are allocated on a flexible basis. Previous experience is not essential as training
