FJA is recruiting a Group Health and Safety Manager on behalf of an excellent manufacturer and supplier of high-performance technical textiles.
Location: Rochdale
Group Health and Safety Manager role:
Manage manufacturing facilities, ensure health and safety compliance and support ISO9001 quality initiatives.
Group Health and Safety Manager responsibilities:
1. Manage training records and plans for all departmental staff.
2. Prepare and distribute a monthly health and safety report for the management meeting.
3. Ensure safe operations, proper PPE usage, and a positive health and safety culture across the group.
4. Track, log, and manage all accidents, incidents, and near-misses monthly. Monitor corrective action progress.
5. Coordinate group-wide asbestos and fire risk assessments, managing action plans with General Managers.
6. Identify and deliver health & safety training needs, ensuring employee certifications remain valid.
7. Conduct quarterly housekeeping inspections, document findings, and manage corrective actions with site leadership.
8. Complete COSHH assessments and review/compile MSDS documentation.
9. Develop and manage environmental controls for production processes.
10. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and objectives.
11. Manage external contractors on site, including issuing of permits to work and ensuring costs remain within the expected and agreed scope of works.
12. Involved in developing SOPs and RAs for new and existing equipment, collaborating with site leadership.
13. Manage Quality Management System documentation, facilitate external and internal audits, and support ISO accreditation for each Group company.
Group Health and Safety Manager requirements:
1. Flexible approach towards overtime and ‘out of hours’ working.
2. Experience within a Manufacturing environment.
3. Previous experience of weaving, rubber production and fabric coating machines preferable.
4. Full driving licence and use of a car for occasional travel between locations.
5. Strong teamwork and communication skills.
6. IOSH managing safely certificate, or equivalent.
7. Must be flexible to travel to other sites as and when required based in Rochdale/Oldham.
