Job Summary
Are you a Principal or Consultant Psychologist, currently working in CAMHS or Acute Adult Services, and looking for a challenge in leading on the development of a new CAMHS service? We are seeking to recruit an experienced and creative Psychological Practitioner to provide Leadership to the Psychological Professions to the CAMHS Acute Care Service. You will be involved in an exciting new development of the enhanced crisis/home treatment 7 day a week service, as an alternative to inpatient admission for Children and Young People experiencing acute mental health difficulties.
You will be part of developing the service to give children and young people living in Sussex a more appropriate and integrated range of services to meet their clinical needs. As the Consultant Practitioner Psychologist, you will lead the Clinical Team to ensure that young people and their families receive timely, targeted assessment and effective Psychological interventions.
The aim of the Sussex CAMHS 'hospital at home' is to provide an alternative to admission to support the local network around the young person (aged 12-18) whilst they are in the acute stage of mental health difficulties. You will be working closely and supporting the Psychological Professions staff, as well as nursing, psychiatry, occupational therapy, family therapy, social worker and mental health practitioners.
Main duties of the job
Working alongside the Leadership Team as part of the Sussex CAMHS 'hospital at home' you will be responsible for leading the team in the provision of assessment, consultation and interventions. You will be joining a team which currently includes a Principal Psychologist, Principal Family and Systemic Therapist, and a range of Psychological Professions. You will be supporting the professional and clinical supervision of these colleagues, and CAMHS colleagues as appropriate.
You will use your extensive clinical experience to assess and support the young person, alongside their parent and carer in order to enhance their clinical outcomes and quality of life.
The post is at band 8C and full time and covers Sussex-wide. We would consider flexible working patterns and job sharing opportunities for the ideal candidate(s).
You will receive supervision from the CAMHS Psychology Professions Professional lead within the wider CAMHS services and have opportunities to network with Occupational Therapists across Child and Adolescent Mental Health services in Sussex.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Post-graduate doctoral level training in applied psychology [or its equivalent for those trained before 1996 or outside the UK*] as approved by the HPC, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
* For forensic psychologists working in forensic settings: Masters degree (with the award of the British Psychological Society qualification in forensic psychology or equivalent).
* Post doctoral / post-qualification training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice relevant to the specific Care Group/Service.
* HCPC Registered as a practitioner Psychologist.
Knowledge/Experience
* Doctoral level knowledge of applied psychology including highly developed knowledge of lifespan developmental psychology, models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct models of psychological therapy.
* Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology.
* Highly developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological practice.
* Assessed extensive experience of working as a qualified psychologist, including significant post-qualification experience within the Specific Care.
* Demonstrable knowledge of the theory and practice of leadership and management in mental health services.
* Extensive experience of providing successful clinical leadership within a multidisciplinary mental health provider context.
* High level knowledge of national policy frameworks and initiatives and the mental health economy within which the Trust services are provided.
