An excellent opportunity to join our Operational Management team at the following depots providing support and development for our team of trainee and experienced Drivers:
1. Westbury
2. Bristol Parkway
3. Swansea
4. Gloucester
The Drivers team in the Central Region is an exciting place to be. We are in a time of transition and optimism for the future. All which, makes it a challenging and rewarding work environment. As a Driver Standards Manager you will find that no two days are the same in this dynamic location. Working in a team and together with the wider Central Region, we will achieve our goals and deliver a fantastic service.
As a Driver Standards Manager you will play a key role in delivering for our customers by keeping our services moving around the clock, driving performance improvements, and ensuring our Drivers are equipped with all the tools and knowledge to allow them to deliver a first-class service.
Main responsibilities of the role:
* Line management of a Driver team of around 30, providing welfare support, management of attendance records and development.
* Delivery of GWR's competence management systems for safety critical operational staff, focusing primarily on Drivers.
* Assessing and developing operational competence, particularly train driving performance to deliver improvements in line with company and industry requirements.
* Incident/accident investigations and due diligence checks.
* Safety briefing of Drivers.
* Involvement in Operational Training of Drivers.
* On call commitment.
What we're looking for:
* A Qualified Train Driver with mainline competence.
* A strong team player with previous line management experience.
* An excellent communicator who can supply subject matter expertise relating to the development of company standards and working practices.
* Ability to be flexible to meet business needs.
* A methodical approach to work with good Microsoft Office skills and experience of maintaining accurate records.
* A D31/D32 or A1 certification would be an advantage, although training in this area can be provided.
