Work
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
What you’ll do at work
* Promote good behaviour and assist in resolving conflicts, ensuring pupil safety, and providing personal and welfare support
* Supervise and support pupils in all activities, including trips, fostering cooperation, self-esteem, and independence
* Provide feedback on progress and achievement as directed by the teacher
* Assist in creating an inclusive and effective learning environment by preparing classrooms, displays, and resources
* Support with behaviour management, pupil monitoring, and maintaining constructive relationships with parents/carers
* Provide administrative and exam-related support, such as photocopying, marking, and invigilation
* Help pupils access learning activities and understand instructions, adjusting support to their needs
* Assist with literacy, numeracy, and ICT, promoting independence in their use
* Prepare and maintain learning equipment and resources
* Follow policies on child protection, health, safety, confidentiality, and equal opportunities
* Collaborate with other professionals and participate in training, meetings, and performance development
* Supervise pupils outside lessons, attend school events, and occasionally work outside standard hours as needed
