As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a dedicated Compliance Officer (Housing Repairs and Maintenance). You will play a critical role in ensuring that our housing repairs and maintenance operations are fully compliant with relevant legislation, industry standards, and best practices.
You will work closely with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to maintain our high standards of safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
We support agile hybrid working arrangements and would envisage this role being delivered through a mix of remote and on-site working.
About the role
We need you to provide compliance and health & safety advice and manage training to the Housing Repairs & Maintenance service.
Main duties and responsibilities:
* To provide a high level of technical health and safety advice and manage the training requirements to the Housing Repairs & Maintenance service, in order that the Council can fulfil its legal obligations.
* To advise and work with senior managers within Housing Repairs and Maintenance service and the wider Housing and Communities Service providing advice and technical support on all housing repair health and safety matters.
* To carry out regular spot checks and desk top reviews to provide assurance that external subcontractors are fulfilling their contractual and statutory obligations.
* To provide assurance that the Council's internal Housing Repairs and Maintenance teams are meeting their statutory obligations and that suitable processes and procedures are in place and being followed.
* Prepare and deliver reports, making recommendations for action where required.
* Represent the Housing and Communities Directorate at both internal and external health and safety groups.
* Actively promote a culture of safety and safe working across the Housing and Communities Service.
* To design, manage and deliver a range of health and safety training courses and/or material for managers and employees across the Housing and Communities Service.
* To carry out site visits to monitor the activities of the Housing Repairs contractors.

About you
We're looking for an experienced professional, with a curious mindset and clear focus on presenting solutions. Good communication skills and a keen customer ethic will really help you to make an impact within this role.
The following experience is required for this role:
* Full professional qualification - must have a NEBOSH General and NEBOSH Construction, and working towards your NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent NVQ level 6 within the next 12 months.
* Experience working in the housing Trades / Construction and/or construction industry.
* Able to provide advice and assistance on compliance to managers at all levels across a diverse range of operational services.
* Experience of reviewing processes, systems, and risk assessment.
* Confident writing reports and presenting information to senior managers making recommendations to control complex risks.
* Demonstrable experience in delivering and designing health and safety training.
