Workshop Manager
My client is looking to recruit an experienced Workshop Manager at their prestige site in Devon. You will be responsible for the productivity and overall efficiencies of a busy workshop. Your remit will be to oversee the day-to-day activity and ensure that jobs are allocated via a card system to the Vehicle Engineers, making sure that the work has been carried out to the correct specifications and within the time frames.
Liaising with the Parts Department to ensure the correct equipment is being used to carry out the repairs is essential. This role would suit someone who has experience working in a similar role within an HGV or Council Fleet workshop environment and has good commercial vehicle knowledge from a technical perspective. Critical to this role are very good people skills, as you will be liaising with internal and external stakeholders, sometimes in a high-pressure environment, so a cool head is required at all times.
The type of vehicles worked on range from heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), road tankers, gritters, RCVs, refuse vehicles, and road sweepers. The fitters under your guidance are highly skilled and will be looking after a mix of diesel, hybrid, and fully electric vehicles, so it is important that you are up to date with modern vehicle technologies.
Your workshop will be responsible for:
1. Routine (and preventative) maintenance
2. MOT preparation
3. Scheduled servicing to DVSA standards
4. 6 (or 8) weekly inspections
5. Correction of running defects
6. Chassis and fabrication work
7. Hydraulics and pneumatics
8. Improvement of vehicle standards
9. Electrical and wiring inspections and corrections
Ideally, you will be fully qualified (City & Guilds), NVQ, or equivalent. It is also important that you are used to vehicle transaction systems and have solid IT skills.
Kautec Recruitment recruits for a variety of sectors and is actively seeking to recruit HGV Technicians, HGV Fitters, Mechanics, Mobile Technicians, PSV Technicians, and Engineers for our Fleet Management Clients across the UK.
If you are actively looking for a new job, but are not a Technician by trade, we are still eager to hear from you and will assist you in finding the next step in your career.
