What you will do: An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead a dynamic team within NHS Ayrshire and Arran's finance department. We are seeking a highly motivated, capable and suitable experience individual to work as the Financial Services Manager. You will be a key member of the Senior Manager Team within the finance department of NHS Ayrshire and Arran. You will play a key and integral role in providing management and leadership of Financial Services, including the accounts payable function, sales ledger team and cash management function. Responsibilities include: ensuring that financial procedures are in place to meet statutory requirements and security of financial systems, ensuring the all exchequer and endowment income and expenditure are properly accounted for, taking the lead to ensure compliance with VAT regulations. For further information on the role please click the link below to view the job description Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job: You should hold a relevant accounting qualification and have extensive experience in a financial services environment and the majority of which should have been at a senior management level preferably within the healthcare environment. You will be required to have developed and maintain a high level of knowledge on the Board’s Standing Financial Instructions, Polices and Operating Procedures and demonstrate the ability to interpret and apply these within the operational environment. A specialist knowledge of legislative matters, particularly HM Revenue & Customs and Inland Revenue legislation is essential to ensure Board compliance at all times. A sound knowledge of the Data Protection Act, Act is required and the ability to apply these to ensure that confidentiality is maintained at all times whilst responding to queries with tact and diplomacy. Excellent leadership and communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with all grades of staff from a wide range of disciplines, both from within and external to the organisation. Use initiative to effectively and efficiently manage and prioritise workload while working under pressure and maintaining high levels of accuracy. Flexibility and confidence to meet the challenges of changing demands and conflicting priorities. Ability to absorb and retain large volumes of complex information and take action accordingly. Extensive practical knowledge of Accounting systems and other IT software packages e.g. Excel, Word is essential.
