Main duties of the job
The post holder will work in a unique and diverse environment, often delivering many of the nurse-led services that are provided in the wider community.
Prison nurses provide holistic care across the whole patient journey. Working in a challenging, multi-faceted environment like a prison, the post holder will deliver holistic and compassionate care to a complex community with varying needs. The role offers versatility as you'll pick up additional skills to develop your knowledge and skills base.

1. minor injury and illness
2. long term conditions
3. end of life/palliative care
4. substance misuse
5. emergency and unscheduled care
6. social care
7. health assessment
8. mental health support
9. in reach and outreach specialist services
10. nurse consultation clinics
11. clinical governance
12. safeguarding
13. the admission/discharge of the patient
14. referrals to the multi-disciplinary teams
15. creating care plans for patients based on clinical assessment
16. administration of medications
