Nottingham University Hospital is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Band 7 Neonatal Infant Feeding Sister to join our exceptional team, working across both City and the newly built Neonatal unit at Queen’s Medical Centre.
The Queen's Medical Centre (QMC) in Nottingham, in partnership with the City Neonatal Unit, has opened a state-of-the-art £32 million Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), now the largest in the East Midlands. Spanning 2,000 square meters—four times the size of the previous facility—our brand-new NICU is designed to deliver world-class care for premature and critically ill newborns, offering advanced medical technology, expanded capacity from 17 to 38 cots, and an environment centered on family support.
With purpose-built family accommodations, private cot bays with glass screening, play areas for siblings, and a dedicated bereavement suite, our facility sets a new standard in neonatal care. We are seeking passionate, skilled professionals to join our team and make a real difference in the lives of our tiniest patients and their families.
Main duties of the job
Neonatal Infant Feeding is a critical component of neonatal care, focusing on providing the optimal nutrition needed for the growth and development of premature and ill infants. At Nottingham University Hospital, we prioritize evidence-based practices to ensure every baby receives the best possible start. Breastfeeding is highly encouraged due to its well-documented benefits for both infants and mothers, including enhanced immune protection and bonding. Your role as the Neonatal infant lead would be to help and support our journey in gaining accreditation, teaching and education to all.

Training & Qualifications
* Current 1st level registered nurse with UK Nursing & Midwifery Council
* Degree Level ( 3 or above) qualification in nursing
* Recognised neonatal intensive and special care qualification, or equivalent
* Completed UNICEF BFI Train the Trainer
* Masters degree or modules in relevant health related subject or working towards
Experience
* Experience of operational management and leadership
* Able to deliver neonatal clinical care across a range of newborn clinical needs.
* Deal effectively with clinical issues within defined procedures/guidelines
* Practical experience of teaching small groups and multi-professional teams
* Evidence of leading change and able to demonstrate implementation of new ways of working within a team
* Knowledge of patient safety programmes, Root Cause Analysis and Datix investigations
* Work as a lone worker
* Participation in research projects
* Experience in managing BFI accreditation
* Management of sickness/ HR related issues
