Job title : Container Surveyor Location : London Gateway ( SS17 9DY ) Position Type : Permanent, full-time Hours of work : 50 hours per week, Monday - Friday, night shift The role With a new state of art infrastructure and recent investment in VBS and technology we are looking for the right individual to support our Operations team in London Gateway. As a Container Surveyor you will be responsible for surveying containers that are received in damaged condition, reposition units under control of the M&R Department and place them to the correct area safely. Key responsibilities: Carry out surveys & estimates in an accurate & timely manner Grade containers Prepare containers for customer bookings Maintain high standards of good housekeeping, with particular attention to the working area – equipment/tools stored in relevant areas, sweeping, and picking up any rubbish especially nails or sharp objects. Maintain health and safety standards within your own working area and looking out for colleagues, always wear relevant PPE and ensure others are. Raise any concerns or issues accordingly to your manager or the H&S manager. Read and understand risk assessments relevant to your working area and follow safe system of work. Requirements: Previous experience of working in a container/haulage industry. Use own initiative with a flexible approach. Basic IT skills. Proactive, innovative, and creative approach to problem solving. A mature approach to H&S. The ability to ensure records are maintained. Attention to detail. Numerical and analytical skills.
