Astute's Nuclear team is working with one of the key global players in engineering services across the nuclear energy market to recruit a Project Engineer to support with decommissioning works across a major defence project in Reading.
The Project Engineer position comes with a salary of 45,000 - 75,000 dependent on experience and would suit someone looking to get in with one of the major defence sites in the UK.

Responsibilities and duties
Reporting to the Project Manager you will:
1. Confirm client specifications between the project team and engineering disciplines, liaising across multiple business lines for successful delivery.
2. Create technical and execution documentation and deliverables.
3. Work with the supply chain to establish requirements and manage the engagement to delivery.
4. Co-ordinate the design requirements of the project with the design team, for example; drawings, tools/equipment, materials, specific design requirements for project lifecycle.
5. Work on forecasts for resource and labour requirements across the project, keeping records of all works taking place.
6. Liaise with Project Controls on the design schedule, risks and report as required.
7. Ensure the projects are supported technically and controlled according to best practices, meet customer requirements, and minimise risks for the business.
8. Support the relationship with the client and all stakeholders including third parties/vendors and internal operations teams.
9. Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements as well as the Project Safety Plan at all times.
10. Ensure construction work is managed in line with safe working methods.
Professional qualifications & Personal skills
We are looking for someone with the following:
1. Degree qualified or equivalent in a relevant engineering degree, ideally with a bias towards mechanical engineering.
2. Experience in the nuclear sector or any other heavy, or highly regulated industries will be highly advantageous.
3. Good understanding of health and safety legislation, in particular Construction regulations, would be beneficial.
4. Successful candidates must be able to obtain the relevant security clearance levels.
Salary and benefits of the Project Engineer role
1. A salary of 45,000 - 75,000 per annum depending on experience.
2. Hybrid working model with 3-4 days on-site as required.
