How will you make an impact in this role? This role will be responsible for supporting the Director for Regulatory Affairs and Testing in responding to regulatory and trade bodies on behalf of AXP. Reporting into the Director, Regulatory Affairs and Testing Duties will include: - Support regulatory interactions, for example reporting, variations of permission and other supervisory work as appropriate. - Assists in the preparation of regular reports to senior management and the Board/Governance Committee as appropriate, providing crucial information on the Compliance plan, performed activities, results of second line of defence monitoring and testing activities, compliance-related risks and risk indicators, and the escalation of compliance issues and incidents. - Provide compliance advisory support to the Lines of Business operating in the UK - Regulatory Change - own horizon scanning activities, working with stakeholders across the Business to discuss changes and implement where appropriate. - Work with colleagues across the Business, and relevant industry stakeholders to assess Government policy, and respond where appropriate. - Regularly liaises with first, other second and third line teams to discuss and communicate compliance activities, and understand business needs and current issues in the market - Work closely with the wider compliance team to provide advice where appropriate. - Assist in producing and maintaining relevant compliance policies and procedures as appropriate. - Provide insight and reporting to the Director Regulatory Affairs and Testing on Regulatory insights, interactions, and findings. - Keep up to date a working knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and company policies to identify the legal obligations applicable to American Express - Deal appropriately with other staff and control functions, and perform other tasks as requested or necessary from time to time to support the effective running of the overall Compliance program - Continuing education - stays current on compliance topics by attending events, seminars and meetings arranged by law firms and professional associations Minimum Qualifications: - Experience in a Regulatory Liaison or in a Compliance Consultancy or Regulatory experience covering a wide range of FCA Handbook Rulebook topics including Consumer Duty, SMCR, SYSC, CONC etc. - Working knowledge of the UK Retail Banking/Payments industry, and the applicable regulatory environment (FCA/PRA). - Ability to manage competing priorities to completion and to deal with rapid changes of priority. - Analytical and detail focused with the ability to identify anomalies, trends and make recommendations. - Proven ability to understand legal and regulatory concepts and convert them into relevant, practical business requirements and compliance solutions. - Self-motivated, energetic team player with proven ability to work effectively in a matrix organization and across international markets with all levels of management. - Strong influencing, communication, and relationship skills. - Excellent written and oral communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: - Bachelors degree and or compliance/legal qualification.
