Student Support Mentor - Bristol
Job Description
Purpose of Role:
As a Student Support Mentor, you will support students in achieving their full potential by providing academic, emotional, and behavioural support under the direction of the Senior Leadership Team. This role is a great opportunity to make a direct impact on the lives of students in Bristol and contribute to their success both academically and socially.
Duties:
1. Work with students on a one-to-one, two-to-one, or small group basis to support their academic and SEMH progress.
2. Assist, follow, and lead student activities and project-based learning on or off-site, in line with individual student timetables.
3. Manage challenging behaviours, with full training provided to enable effective care and support, including Team Teach training if required.
4. Participate in on and off-site activities, including physical activities such as football, basketball, gym work, and cooking. A decent level of mobility and fitness is required for this education and training role.
5. Report any safeguarding concerns in line with safeguarding reporting procedures.
6. Follow all policies and procedures to the highest standard as part of your role.
7. Promote and reward good behaviour.
8. Support students' personal targets to make positive academic and SEMH progress.
9. Complete daily reports of the highest standard, ensuring timely submission to the Senior Leadership Team.
10. Upload daily Seesaw entries based on students' individual targets as part of your education and training responsibilities.
11. Promote involvement in enrichment activities to improve skills and readiness for life, further supporting their education and training.
What We're Looking For:
1. Experience working with students with SEMH needs or in similar roles.
2. A proactive, compassionate approach with strong communication skills.
3. Ability to support students with behavioural challenges, building positive relationships.
4. A willingness to undertake relevant training, including Team Teach.
5. Own transport required due to the nature of the role.
