Job Title: Non-Qualified Vocational/Life Skills Practitioner Pay Rate: £20,236 Location: Leamington Spa, Warwickshire Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM (Full-time, Term-time) PERMANENT VACANCY About the Role We are excited to announce a vacancy for a full-time Non-Qualified Vocational/Life Skills Practitioner, working with students aged 11-19 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). The successful candidate will join our unique, nurturing environment, delivering group sessions tailored to meet the individual needs of students. This role is designed to support students emotionally and academically, ensuring they receive a high-quality education in a "homely" setting that promotes engagement and personal growth. Key Responsibilities • Plan and deliver vocational and life skills sessions that are creative and target-based • Build trusting relationships with students to support their emotional and academic development • Implement behaviour management strategies, focusing on resolution and developmental reflection • Promote outdoor learning by incorporating it into lessons wherever possible • Monitor and assess student progress using assessment software to inform planning • Embed British values and provide opportunities for students’ spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development • Mark students' work and provide feedback in line with the marking policy • Contribute to students’ Individual Education Plans (IEPs) • Work collaboratively with other staff and professionals across curriculum areas • Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and Keep Children Safe in Education guidelines • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and moderation activities • Engage with the local community and plan educational sessions to make a positive impact Essential Experience & Skills • Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) • Strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and de-escalation strategies • Ability to build rapport and trust quickly with students and staff • Experience of working in a non-conventional classroom setting, including outdoor learning • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies • Strong communication skills, resilience, and empathy • Ability to manage high-pressure situations while maintaining a calm approach Preferred Qualifications • HLTA qualification or relevant teaching qualification • First Aid certification • Autism Level 1 & 2 qualifications • Team Teach or relevant safe handling training Why Join Us? • Work in a small-group, nurturing environment designed to engage students emotionally and academically • Join a supportive, collaborative team of professionals • Make a lasting impact on the lives of students with ASC by helping them reach their full potential • Opportunity for continuous professional development About Smart Education Smart Education is a specialist Education & Early Years recruitment agency, providing opportunities for Teachers, Teaching Assistants, SEND Support Staff, Nursery Nurses, and Tutors.
