Technical Services Technologist – 1 Year Fixed-Term Contract
Salary: £33,000 - £37,000 per annum
Hours: 08:00 to 16:00, Monday to Friday (flexibility required)

The Role: Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the Technical Services Technologist will act as a key liaison between internal departments and external stakeholders, ensuring accurate product specifications, compliance with labelling standards, and effective supplier management.
Key Responsibilities:
* Create and maintain accurate, detailed product specifications to meet regulatory requirements, customer expectations, and internal standards.
* Validate claims such as nutritional, health, provenance, allergen, and RSPO.
* Provide technical support to customers regarding product specifications, allergens, and compliance.
* Develop and manage Quality Assurance Standards (QAS).
* Validate product labels to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
* Complete customer questionnaires and respond to enquiries promptly.
* Approve new raw material and packaging suppliers, maintain supplier risk assessments, and manage related documentation.
* Liaise with suppliers to obtain accurate product information and certifications.
* Support internal and external audits with audit-ready documentation.
* Raise derogations and concessions as required.
* Provide cover for colleagues during holidays and sickness.
* Essential Experience and Qualifications:
* Degree in food science, food technology, or related field.
* Experience in a similar technical role within food manufacturing.
* Proficiency in completing finished product specifications for retail and foodservice and working with multicomponent foods.
* Knowledge of food composition, allergens, labelling legislation, and food safety standards.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management systems.
* Familiarity with HACCP principles (Level 2 certification desirable).
* Experience in raw material and supplier approval, project management, and audits.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organisation, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure independently or in a team.
