Applications are invited to the post of Clinical Fellow in Neurosurgery - Complex Epilepsy to start in Summer of 2025.

This post offers a unique training opportunity. It is suitable for a post-CCT Neurosurgery trainee, who wishes to pursue a focused one-year training in complex epilepsy, allowing her/him to pursue a career in neurosurgery with a special interest in complex epilepsy. The post is a full-time appointment.
The fellowship is expected to be for 12 months duration; there may be an option for prolonging this for up to a second year.
The post holder would also be expected to participate in the epilepsy and neurosurgery clinics with responsibility of seeing new and follow up patients in association with and being supervised by one of the epilepsy Consultants. The post holder is integrally involved in the Multidisciplinary team/pre-surgical meetings and is expected to present patients during the meeting, gaining experience in pre-surgical evaluation.

Qualifications / Certification
Essential
* Registered Medical Practitioner
* Completed general medical training
* On GMC register
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
* MRCS(UK) full diploma or equivalent at time of appointment
Desirable
* FRCS (SN) or equivalent
Experience
Essential
* Evidence of experience in General Neurosurgery (at least 6 years at registrar/resident level)
* Evidence of some competences in the specialty as defined by the relevant curricula
* Evidence of skills in the management of acute medical emergencies (e.g. ALERT, IMPACT certification)
* Evidence of competence in management of medical emergencies and in-patients through continuous work-based assessments, portfolio evidence, including logbook documentation if applicable
Academic Skills
Essential
* Demonstrates understanding of research, including awareness of ethical issues, understanding of the basic principles of audit, clinical risk management, evidence-based practice, patient safety and clinical quality improvement initiatives and also knowledge of evidence-informed practice
* Evidence of teaching experience and/or training in teaching
Desirable
* Evidence of relevant academic & research achievements and involvement in a formal research project and publications
* Evidence of involvement in an audit project, a quality improvement project, formal research project or other activity
