About the Opportunity
Nuclear Power Programmes are delivering client critical works to some of our major UK and European Projects. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland's first Nuclear Power station.
Working in both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and to time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively.
Jacobs is looking for multiple Safety Case Engineers to advise the HPC / SZC project teams and the Responsible Designer on the adequacy of safety case and safety case deliverables. Key responsibilities:
1. To understand the safety case elements related to internal hazards and fire protection/life safety
2. Provide support to the Internal Hazards topic lead on all aspects of internal hazards topic
3. Support to the Safety Studies & Methodology Group Lead on aspects of the fire protection/life safety topic
4. Interfacing with the technical leads inside EDF Nuclear Services
5. Identification, production or review of design basis internal hazards/fire assessments
6. Develop or review strategies and methodologies for managing and assessing risks from internal hazards
7. Support the system groups in the Technical Client Organisation in developing changes to the safety case
8. Work effectively and maintain a strong relationship with all Engineering and Regulatory bodies
Here's What You'll Need:
9. Degree or equivalent in physical science, maths or engineering
10. Chartered engineer status would be desirable
11. Demonstrable evidence of complex safety case management/production within the nuclear industry with particular emphasis on hazards safety
12. cases and/or fire protection/life safety
13. Identification and resolution of issues and development work within the life cycle of nuclear plant construction through to operational level
14. Ability to operate autonomously or as part of a team
15. Decision making capability for resolution of safety case issues
16. Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong working relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers
