Registered Nurse Associate - Specialist Palliative Care

An exciting opportunity is available for a Band 4 Registered Nurse Associate at our Specialist Palliative Care Unit at Priscilla Bacon Lodge.
Working as a member of an MDT, you will provide specialist palliative care for adults with life limiting illness and support to their families. If you are hardworking, compassionate and a great team player then we would like you to apply for this position to expand our valued team.
Main duties of the job:
1. Providing specialist palliative care for patients with life limiting illness on an inpatient unit.
2. Working with a collaborative MDT to provide symptom management, psychological support to the patient and their families, palliative rehab and goal setting, end of life care and support.
Ideally the candidate will have knowledge and experience of administering controlled drugs and syringe driver's, tracheotomies and nasogastric tubes, or an enthusiasm to complete competencies in the management of these.
Job responsibilities
You will be working on the 24 bedded inpatient unit. Providing holistic, compassionate, safe and effective interventions, care and support to patients, their families and service users under the direction of a registered Nurse, without direct supervision and in line with an agreed plan of care.

* NMC registration
Communication
* Ability to communicate with members of the public and health and care providers.
* Able to communicate effectively in written and verbal English Language.
* Courteous, respectful and helpful at all times.
Skills, Abilities and Knowledge
* Ability to work effectively as a team player under appropriate supervision, and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
* Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate.
* Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development.
* Evidence of time management skills and ability to prioritise.
* Ability to deal with non-routine and unpredictable nature of the workload and individual patient contact.
* Ability to move between sites working across health and social care as required by the needs of the service.
* Ability to work on own initiative.
* Ability to take part in reflective practice and clinical supervision activities.
* Knowledge of when to seek advice and refer to a registered care professional.
* Understanding of the importance of the promotion of health and wellbeing (Making Every Contact Count).

Experience
* Experience of working within a health / care setting.
