We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Year 1 Teacher to join a supportive and welcoming team at a school in Norwich. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher or an Early Career Teacher (ECT) to play a key role in helping young learners transition from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to Key Stage 1 .
As a Year 1 Teacher, you will create a stimulating and nurturing learning environment where children can develop their confidence, curiosity, and key foundational skills in phonics, numeracy, and early writing. This role begins September 2025.
Duties of a Year 1 Teacher:
* Planning and delivering engaging and creative lessons in line with the KS1 National Curriculum .
* Supporting children’s transition from EYFS to Year 1, ensuring a smooth and positive experience.
* Teaching early reading and phonics, using a structured phonics programme (e.g., Read Write Inc, Letters and Sounds).
* Creating a stimulating and inclusive classroom environment.
* Assessing, tracking, and reporting on pupil progress and attainment.
* Encouraging independent learning and social development .
* Working closely with Teaching Assistants, SENDCo, and support staff to meet the needs of all learners.
* Communicating effectively with parents, carers, and colleagues.
* Taking part in staff meetings, CPD opportunities, and whole-school initiatives.
Ideal Year 1 Teacher:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
* Experience teaching in EYFS or Key Stage 1 (desirable but not essential for ECTs).
* A passion for early childhood education and child development .
* Strong knowledge of phonics and early literacy strategies .
* Excellent classroom management and behaviour management skills .
* Strong communication and teamwork skills as a Year 1 Teacher.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
