Job Description:
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in North Somerset to assist with the appointment of a School Admissions Assistant, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: £15.57 - £19.63 per Hour
Summary:
The Admissions Assistant supports the School Admissions Team by processing school admissions applications, managing enquiries, and ensuring the efficient allocation of school places across Infant, Junior, Primary, and Secondary Schools in North Somerset. The role involves providing advice to the public, schools, and other stakeholders while ensuring compliance with council policies and statutory requirements.
Responsibilities:
* Admissions Processing: Assist with the administration of school admissions, including handling approximately 5,000 bulk place requests and 2,000 in-year transfer requests annually. Allocate school places under the supervision of School Admissions Officers and ensure all processes align with council policies and statutory guidelines.
* Enquiries & Customer Service: Respond promptly and efficiently to written, telephone, and email enquiries from parents, schools, and other stakeholders. Provide accurate information and guidance on admissions processes, referring complex cases to the School Admissions Officers as needed.
* Data Management: Record and update student applications on the teams database, ensuring the accurate tracking of pupil movements across North Somerset schools. Maintain up-to-date records for reporting and analysis purposes.
* Appeals Support: Prepare documentation for school admission appeals and assist the School Admissions Officers in compiling cases for presentation. Ensure all appeal processes are managed in accordance with legal and council policies.
* Information Gathering & Reporting: Assist in the collection of information regarding school capacity, organisation, and numbers on roll. Support the development of statutory information shared with parents and schools about admission policies and appeal processes.
Qualifications:
* 5 GCSEs (Grade C or above) or equivalent.
Experience:
* Experience of dealing directly with the public in a professional setting.
* Proficiency in database management, word-processing, and spreadsheet applications.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Ability to function effectively within a team environment.
