Job Description
Shooting Star Children’s Hospices
Guildford/Hampton
Circa £60,000 pa + Great Benefits
Be Part of Something Special.
Having just been awarded the UK Charity of the Year, Shooting Star Children’s Hospices isn’t stopping there. The charity has exciting plans to advance its estate—and this is where you come in.
The charity cares for babies, children, and young people with life-limiting conditions and their families across southwest London, northwest London, and Surrey. Its goal is to make every moment count, whether lives are measured in days, weeks, months, or years.
The specialist care and support are free of charge and available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The property portfolio includes Christopher’s Hospice in Guildford, Shooting Star House in Hampton, which provides day services, eight shops, a distribution centre, and a residential property.
Working closely with the Director of Finance and Operations, you’ll provide strategic guidance on managing the estate and advancing sustainability plans. This includes overseeing preventative maintenance, ad hoc repairs, and renewals, all in close collaboration with the Heads of Care and other departments.
If sustainability is important to you, this role offers the chance to lead the charity’s journey toward carbon neutrality and to drive forward the next sustainability plans. The charity has recently completed condition surveys of its properties and is now looking for guidance on planning for the future.
In this role, you’ll lead a maintenance team of three and work closely with external contractors for specialist projects across the charity.
The charity is constantly moving forward, and you’ll take a lead role in further developing processes and systems to support the estate’s advancement, with full support from the executive team.
Employee benefits and wellbeing are a top priority at Shooting Star, with a comprehensive range of offerings, including access to the NHS Pension Scheme (for eligible employees) or a pension matched up to 7%, 27 days of holiday plus bank holidays, life insurance, free meals at Christopher’s, generous sick pay, flexible working options, enhanced maternity, adoption, and paternity leave, a sabbatical scheme, CPD opportunities, and much more.
