Health Safety and Environmental Manager
Location: Oxfordshire / Buckinghamshire
Salary: £65,000 - £70,000
Benefits: 10% bonus structure, private healthcare, dental, flexible starts, and 1 day a week work from home.
Role Overview:
In this role, you’re responsible for the health and safety strategies across a large, complex manufacturing site. You’ll have the opportunity to collaborate on a global scale on projects.
It’s essential to understand complex product manufacturing environments to succeed in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Advise, guide, and coach site management teams on all matters relating to environment, health & safety.
2. Promote the best health, safety, and environment culture.
3. Maintain and develop the sustainability path.
4. Implement site management systems in line with ISO 45001 / 14001.
5. Provide regular proactive communications to key stakeholders on HSE best practice and initiatives.
6. Develop and deliver a site HSE improvement plan aligned with the corporate strategy.
7. Support improvement projects at both site and group level.
8. Assist sites in achieving customers’ sustainability targets.
9. Support the investigation of accidents and incidents, ensuring sustainable actions follow any identified corrective or preventative opportunities.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Previous experience in a Health, Safety and Environment role in Manufacturing, preferably Food.
2. A NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) in Occupational Health & Safety.
3. Essential systems knowledge, specifically in Microsoft Excel.
4. Ability to build strong working relationships at all levels.
5. Meticulous organisational skills, able to prioritise and work to tight deadlines.
6. Management systems experience and auditing – e.g. ISO14001, ISO45001.
7. Experience leading internal audits and liaising with external regulatory bodies.
8. Experience in people development.
9. Ability to analyse complex problems to identify multiple root causes.
10. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to deliver results.
11. Strong communication skills with stakeholders across all functions and levels.
