About us
Chiltern Way Academy Trust (CWAT) is an Ofsted 'Outstanding' academy, providing cutting edge and transformational approaches to educating students with ASC and SEMH. We currently have four campuses, with two secondary schools, one primary school and one combined school.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. To undertake work/care/support programmes and to enable access to learning and to assist a teacher in the management of pupils in the classroom.
2. To support teaching staff in the development and education of pupils with the provision of specialist skills as appropriate.
3. To assist teachers to maintain both the health and safety of all students and good order and discipline: to do so within the school’s policies and guidelines.
4. To be familiar with and follow all the school’s policies and guidelines on all areas and aspects of school life.
5. To play some part in the cycle of school and self-evaluation, planning monitoring and the delivery of school improvement.
6. To help teachers maintain a classroom or rooms to the highest standard: supporting the comfort, safety, self-esteem and learning of the students.
7. To demonstrate skills in, and understanding of, a variety of teaching and learning strategies.
8. To lead and/or substantially contribute to the planning and delivery of any necessary policy documents and schemes of work for those subjects.
9. To regularly review the methods of teaching and programmes of work.
10. To actively and demonstrably support and promote literacy, numeracy, ICT and Key Skills via their curriculum areas.
11. To actively and demonstrably support and promote the personal, social and moral development of the students via their curriculum area.
12. To keep abreast with current thinking and development by attendance at appropriate courses, reading and other means of professional updating and training.
13. To participate in meetings at the school which relate to the curriculum or the organisation and administration of the school.

About you
Essential
NVQ level 2 or equivalent
GCSE Maths & English (A-C grade)
Experience of working with young people
Transparent and logical work history
Takes responsibility and can work effectively and flexibly both independently and as part of a team
Build effective working relationships with young people and colleagues
Ability to communicate successfully through a variety of means
Able to plan and record
