Job Description
Do you possess an NVQ in Health & Social Care or are you working towards it? Do you have experience working with young people? If so, I have an exciting opportunity for you to work as a Support Worker supporting me to live in the community.
My name is Adam, aged 30, living in Willington. Due to a serious road accident, I sustained a brain injury. My goal is to move back into the community with a 24/7 1-1 care package to meet my needs.
I currently reside in a care home, but I now have a 2-bedroom bungalow in Willington, County Durham. I need a Direct Payment care team to support me to live safely in the community.
Duties
* Assist with daily living activities such as making meals and ensuring safety during showers.
* Encourage and support maintaining a clean and tidy home, including domestic chores like laundry and ironing.
* Support me in mobility using a walking frame and assist with crossing roads safely, considering my partial sight in one eye.
* Help me manage my communication, especially understanding my brain injury-related behaviors, and support community outings like shopping, cinema, pub visits, gym, and swimming.
Hours / Wages
Shifts will be 12 hours, from 8 am to 8 pm and 8 pm to 8 am. Night shifts include a private bedroom to sleep. The wage rate is £12.00 per hour, with holiday pay included.
A care team of 4-5 members is preferred to cover holidays, sickness, training, and days off. Applications for night-only work are also considered, fitting into the rota. A two-week rota with every second weekend off is planned.
Additional Requirements
* Experience with head injury and neurological issues is preferred.
* Ability to drive is an advantage but not essential.
* An Enhanced DBS check is required, which will be covered.
* Sleep-ins are necessary, with your own bedroom provided.
* Carrying out smoking outside the bungalow is acceptable.
