Social Worker – Family Safeguarding

Pay Rate: £33.30
We are seeking a dedicated Social Worker to manage a caseload of varying complexity within our Children’s Services. The successful candidate will lead on complex assessments, providing evidence as necessary in court proceedings while exercising high-quality judgment in challenging situations. You will practice with confidence and autonomy, integrating professional knowledge and the views of service users into your practice.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Case Management: Manage a caseload, conducting thorough assessments and employing appropriate intervention strategies tailored to service users, families, and settings.
2. Judgment & Decision Making: Demonstrate effective judgment regarding risk and accountability, making timely decisions when positive change is not occurring and employing contingency planning to navigate complexities.
3. Relationship Building: Foster strong relationships with children, young people, families, and partner agencies to support informed decision-making and service planning.
4. Collaboration: Work in partnership with a range of statutory, independent, and voluntary services to develop and implement care plan objectives and desired outcomes.
5. Evaluation & Reflection: Routinely evaluate the quality and impact of your practice, actively participating in reflective practice group meetings and promoting the Code of Ethics and regulatory standards.
6. Continuing Professional Development: Keep up-to-date with contemporary issues in children’s social work, including legislation and evidence-based practices, and pursue professional development to deepen your capabilities.
7. Documentation: Record information accurately and respectfully, adhering to health and safety regulations and the Telford and Wrekin Health and Safety policy.
8. Legal Compliance: Work within the scope of legal options to support investigation and protection, undertaking preventative work with families to reduce the need for care or accommodation.
Qualifications & Skills:
1. Relevant social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW).
2. Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
3. Proven experience in social work within children’s services.
4. Strong assessment and intervention skills.
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
