As part of the role, you will report to the Engineers and assist them in efficiently designing various Highway maintenance schemes and processing Vehicular Access applications. Your goal will be to ensure that these projects are delivered within the set timeframes and budget constraints. About us: Leicestershire County Council is the local highway authority for the county, responsible for maintaining 2,575 miles of roads. We plan and deliver roadworks throughout the year, as well as providing gritting services in winter. We also work with developers and partners to ensure that new developments have appropriate and sustainable highway infrastructure. They are responsible for the efficient design, planning and project management of multiple Highway construction schemes and maintenance works to achieve delivery within time and cost targets, ensuring compliance with specifications and quality management systems. About You To apply for this post you must hold or have: Qualifications: • NVQ3 or equivalent, i.e. BTEC in Civil Engineering or A-Levels A-C in relevant subjects or have demonstrable experience (if you don’t hold these qualifications, Leicestershire County Council is able to offer a Level 3 Apprenticeship to candidates with school qualifications that allow entry onto the scheme). Experience: • Ideally the successful candidate will have worked in an engineering setting, including design, maintenance, or administrative processes in relation to highways infrastructure. • Candidates with experience working in a commercial environment and delivering projects and programmes to time, quality and cost will also be considered. • Experience of accurately capturing, storing and retrieving information to meet customer and organisational and needs. Knowledge: • Knowledge of current highway design standards, construction techniques, asset management principles or maintenance standards. Skills and Competencies: • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work. • Good IT skills, including the ability to learn the use of service specific systems and software.
