If so, we'd like to hear from you. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Software Engineering Operations Lead to lead and optimize engineering operations. In this highly visible role reporting directly to IDBS' CTO, you will enable the engineering leadership team to focus on scaling the organisation by driving operational excellence and delivering strategic initiatives. You will be responsible for aligning priorities, optimizing processes and managing cross-functional programs, ensuring seamless cross-functional collaboration in a modern and rapidly evolving Software Engineering environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of modern Agile engineering practices, the tools which enable this, exceptional change management skills, and a passion for scaling and optimising operations in a fast paced, high-growth environment. What we'll get you doing: · Strategic Planning & Execution: Support engineering leadership in developing, executing and tracking strategic initiatives aligned with engineering and business growth objectives. · Operational Excellence: Design and implement scalable operational processes. · Engineering Process Optimisation: Support IDBS Heads of Practice leadership to develop, implement, and continuously improve our practices and processes, ensuring scalability, reliability, and efficiency across all engineering teams. · Program Management: Lead cross-functional programs and initiatives that improve delivery timelines, product quality, and operational performance. · Metrics & Reporting: Establish KPIs and operational metrics to monitor performance, capacity planning, and delivery predictability. · Tooling & Automation: Oversee the evaluation, implementation, and adoption of tools that improve engineering planning, workflows, CI/CD pipelines, development environments and business intelligence dashboards · Risk Management: Identify operational risks and implement mitigation plans to ensure reliable product delivery. · Budget & Vendor Management: Manage operational budgets, vendor relationships, and contracts related to engineering and operations. · Culture & Leadership: Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and operational excellence within the engineering organization. · Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Security, Compliance, and Customer Operations teams to align engineering operations with broader company goals. · Leadership Support: Facilitate and manage leadership meetings, including agenda creation, action item tracking, and follow-up. · Data-Driven Insights: Analyse key performance metrics, prepare executive reports, and provide insights to inform decision-making. · Organizational Health: Drive culture-building initiatives, talent development programs, and diversity and inclusion efforts within the engineering organisation. · Special Projects: Lead and execute high-impact projects on behalf of the CTO. Here are some examples of what success in this role looks like: - A natural affinity to work across Engineering, Product and other IDBS organisations - Project manage, operationalise, track and report on our Change Programs - Identify, surface & champion opportunities for new Change Programs - Design, plan, establish and operate multi-channel communications across Engineering, ensuring a coherent program of regular communications including Newsletters, Town Halls, Confluence Events, All Hands calls, Team Events, Leadership roundtables, etc. - Plan, schedule and communicate annual event calendars including org-wide Convergence events, Hackathons, Leadership off-sites. - Analyse, track and report needs, gaps and exceptions with technical skills and competences - Evaluate and analyse Employee Engagement Survey results, working across the teams to formulate improvement strategies and track progress. - Establish, monitor and report on progress towards Business & Engineering KPIs (e.g. Roadmap Delivery, Productivity, TTV, Predictability, Value Delivery, Technical Debt Reduction, etc.) flagging risks and impediments to Scrum of Scrum Masters and the Engineering leadership team. - Co-ordinate ad-hoc, cross-team actions. Preferred Skills: - Experience: 5 years of experience in a strategic or operational management role within a SaaS or technology company. - Program Management : Strong program management skills with experience managing complex, cross-functional projects. - Process Excellence: Strong background in Agile, Scrum, and Lean methodologies with a focus on continuous improvement. - Technical Acumen: Solid understanding of modern cloud architectures, CI/CD pipelines, and SaaS delivery models. - Analytical Skills: Ability to define, track, and communicate KPIs that measure operational health and engineering performance, with e xcellent analytical skills with the ability to leverage data for strategic insights. - Collaboration: Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work across engineering, product, customer operations and other business functions to manage and influence stakeholders at all levels. - Problem-Solving: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities with a focus on data-driven decision-making. - Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. - Tools: Strong experience with using modern planning and insights tools such as Jira, Confluence, Power BI, etc. - Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent At IDBS we believe in designing a better, more sustainable workforce.
