Leidos is a global technology business; from our site in Wickford, we supply tooling used in automotive production. As an Assistant Buyer, you will play a pivotal role in purchasing parts and materials used in our production.

Responsibilities of the Assistant Buyer
* To carry out the effective procurement of materials and services in-line with the business needs.
* Ensure that all items for procurement are within the relevant budget and comply with all appropriate strategies, raising any anomalies with relevant colleagues.
* Negotiate with suppliers to reduce Project Spend.
* Monitor relevant Engineering releases, requisitions, and follow up with manufacturing.
* Monitor and appropriately report cost and delivery performance against the relevant budgets and timing plans.
* Identify new resourcing opportunities through market research or by other means.
* Identify expediting needs, and investigate any invoice, cost, or quality queries.
* Attend project reviews as required, equipped with all relevant delivery information.
* Monitor and manage supplier performance in accordance with agreed KPI’s.
About You
Previous purchasing experience, ideally within the manufacturing sector.
Strong sense of urgency & attention to detail.
Analytical skillset with a methodical approach to problem solving.
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
Good working knowledge of MRP systems & Excel.
