An opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Bias Apprentice to join the engineering team at Ketton Cement plant.
This is an excellent and challenging opportunity to join a company that leads the way within the cement industry, with 3 cement plants across the country.
Not only will the selected candidate work with skilled and experienced engineers, but they will also gain qualifications as a mechanical engineer.
The apprenticeship lasts between 42 to 48 months. The role involves college attendance and working alongside site personnel.
Qualifications and Development
* Achieve a minimum of:
* Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (College)
* Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (College)
* Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (In-Company)
* Internal and external training to gain experience, knowledge, and qualifications for future careers.
* Skills learned include reading and interpreting data and documentation for maintenance, condition monitoring, planned maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair of high-tech systems such as mechanical, fluid & pneumatic, electrical & electronic, and process control equipment.
* Assist with installation, testing, and commissioning of equipment where applicable.
* Contribute to business improvements in working practices, processes, and procedures.

Key Points
* Years 1 and 2: 36-hour weeks (7:30 am – 3:30 pm Mon to Thurs, 7:30 am – 11:30 am Friday)
* Years 3 and 4: 40-hour weeks (7:30 am – 3:30 pm Mon to Fri)
* Salary increases each year based on Grade 1 of the national agreement salary (Year 1 = 35%, Year 2 = 45%, Year 3 = 60%, Year 4 = 85%). The apprenticeships are expected to commence in September 2024.
Job Purpose
* Adhere to health and safety standards and company rules.
* Work alongside qualified engineers on the manufacturing plant.
* Perform maintenance and repairs on cement plant equipment.
* Gain comprehensive knowledge of the cement manufacturing process through detailed planning and experience in various areas.
Accountabilities
The Mechanical Apprentice will work within the Mechanical Maintenance Team, which includes 1 Mechanical Engineer, 2 Mechanical Supervisors, and 18 Mechanical Craftsmen.
