Become part of a revolutionary effort to transform potable water treatment as a key contributor to the Freeox Project, an initiative proudly funded by OFWAT's Water Discovery Challenge. This innovative collaboration between Cardiff University and Origin Aqua seeks to replace traditional chlorination methods with in-situ hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) synthesis, offering a groundbreaking solution to water disinfection.
Recognized as one of 10 winners in this prestigious challenge, the project has already secured awards totalling £500,000 to advance its mission of developing a sustainable, low-energy water treatment technology that is free of harmful disinfection by-products (DBPs). The Freeox Project is poised to redefine how clean, safe drinking water is produced globally, delivering benefits to human health, the environment, and long-term operational costs.
Main Purpose of the Job:
Provide scientific expertise and support to the research and development team, focusing on water science, water chemistry, microbiology, and contributing to the success of the Freeox Project and other groundbreaking initiatives.
Who We’re Looking For:
We are seeking a proactive and skilled water scientist with strong practical expertise. This dynamic role requires a multi-talented individual capable of managing a diverse and exciting research program.
Minimum Requirements:
1. A BSc in relevant science and 1.5-2 year min lab/practical experience.
2. An MSc with 1 year practical/ lab experience.
Overall Responsibilities:
* Design, conduct, and analyze laboratory and field experiments related to H₂O₂ synthesis and water disinfection.
* Oversee the development and optimization of in-situ hydrogen peroxide generation systems.
* Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot advanced water treatment rigs and systems at the research facility and client sites.
* Support the Freeox Project’s scale-up efforts by evaluating system performance under varied operational conditions.
* Prepare detailed scientific reports, data analysis, and documentation to inform ongoing development and meet project milestones.
* Contribute to collaborative efforts with Cardiff University and other stakeholders, ensuring alignment with project goals.
