This is a temporary position as a Second Chef at a care home operated by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK's leading healthcare providers. The role involves assisting the Head Chef in creating nutritious and flavorful menus for the residents, while working in a warm and welcoming environment. The successful candidate will have experience in leading a team and working with fresh, seasonal produce.
Main duties of the job
The Second Chef will assist the Head Chef in managing the kitchen, including menu development, working with fresh produce to deliver high-quality and wholesome dishes, and creating a warm and efficient environment. They will also be responsible for managing stock control, completing regular audits, and helping to lead and motivate the team.
Job responsibilities
Working as a bank Second Chef at Barchester, you will have the chance to deliver hotel/restaurant standards without the split shifts and long weeks. You will assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome and well-balanced menus whilst working with residents to tailor menus around them. NEED TO HAVE
* A personable and warm approach with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents
* Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent
* Experience in helping lead and inspire a team

* The successful candidate must hold a City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent qualification, have experience in helping lead and inspire a team, a good understanding of nutrition and working with fresh seasonal food, and a good understanding of HACCP.
