Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Planner with a strong background in residential planning to join our client's team in Glasgow. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and delivering a range of planning applications, providing expert advice on residential developments, and ensuring compliance with local and planning policies.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Producing planning assessments for new site appraisals.
2. Lead on all planning applications from Outline/Full and Reserved Matters to the discharging of planning conditions and negotiation of S75 agreements.
3. Oversee the masterplanning of new sites and liaise with layout designers, engineers, and external consultants.
4. Prepare and commission planning statements and a range of other planning and technical documents required to support applications.
5. Organise and attend stakeholder/public consultation events with professionalism.
6. Coordinate and prepare responses to consultations on new and emerging local and planning policy.
7. On occasion provide assistance to the Managing Director when making key business decisions and attend regular regional meetings as the relevant subject expert.
8. Provide mentoring and training to junior members of the team.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Previous experience working in the private or public sector in the field of development management/development planning. For example, in a Local Authority, Planning Consultancy, or with Housebuilder/Developer.
2. Degree/Masters Planning Degree with an RTPI accreditation and a rounded knowledge of planning.
3. Ability to adapt to change and to work accurately and efficiently under pressure.
4. Proactive and willingness to take the lead on own initiative and under minimal supervision.
5. Excellent verbal communication skills.
6. Full UK driving licence.
