Job Title: Cover Supervisor Location: Wigan Position Type: Full-time, Temporary (with potential to go permanent) About the Role: Teach Match Education is currently seeking an enthusiastic and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join a supportive school in the Wigan area. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with students in a classroom setting, ensuring that learning continues in the absence of the class teacher. The Cover Supervisor will play a key role in managing classroom behaviour, supervising students, and ensuring that all pupils remain engaged with the work set by the teacher. Key Responsibilities: Supervise and manage classes in the absence of the regular class teacher, ensuring that students remain on task and complete their work. Provide clear instructions for students, ensuring they understand the tasks and are motivated to complete them. Manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive, productive learning environment by implementing effective behaviour management strategies. Assist students with their work as necessary, providing guidance and support to ensure that tasks are completed successfully. Ensure that students remain focused and engaged during lessons, helping to maintain a safe and respectful classroom environment. Support students in maintaining discipline and following school rules, including adhering to the school's behaviour policy. Help with the preparation of materials and resources for lessons if required. Report any incidents or concerns regarding student behaviour or well-being to the appropriate staff member, in line with safeguarding procedures. Assist with the pastoral care of students, ensuring their welfare and providing support when needed. Contribute to a positive school culture by supporting the school's ethos and values. Requirements: Previous experience working with children or in an educational environment is highly desirable. Strong classroom management skills and the ability to effectively manage student behaviour. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to work independently and as part of a team. Confidence in supervising groups of students and providing support when needed. A proactive, positive, and flexible approach to working in a school setting. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
