Position:
An opportunity has arisen for a Chef based at University Hospital Ayr.
What you will do:
You will be based in the Main Kitchen at University Hospital Ayr provided in excess of 2000 patient prepared and cooked meals every day, including therapeutic diets to patients, as well as meal services for staff and visitors. In addition, we cater and provide hospitality for meetings and functions.
Your duties include the preparation, cooking and service of meals including any preparation of therapeutic diets when required.
You will also maintain a high standard of hygiene, recording and monitoring of data for HACCP and the Environmental Health.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:
Essential
* City & Guilds 706/1, 706/2, NVQ/SVQ or equivalent; Basic REHIS/RSH Food Hygiene certificate.
* A minimum of 3 years cooking experience.
* Knowledge / skills in texture modification and the provision of therapeutic / special diets, Food Hygiene legislation to include HACCP procedure. Moving and Handling Guidelines; Health & Safety Legislation; COSHH Regulations.
Desirable
* Intermediate REHIS/RSH Food Hygiene Certificate.
* Experience of working in a health care or similar setting.
* Basic computer skills / an understanding of NHS computerized Menu Analysis Systems.

Hours:
Hours for this post are 36 per week.
Monday - Sunday 5 Days over 7 working between the hours of: 0630-1900/30
A degree of flexibility is essential, as you must be available to cover shifts within the department between the hours of 0630 and 1900 including weekends.
