The role:
The BIM coordinator has responsibility for day-to-day project BIM model co-ordination, Model Production, data input/output activities and actions. Working closely with various internal and external team members to ensure successful Revit training, Model and COBie development, clash detection and handover of Building Information Models, Reporting to the Head of BIM and Digital Transformation.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Take lead in the production of point cloud models and fire safety drawings.
2. Take lead in the production of Revit models.
3. Assist in project BIM co-ordination meetings, this may include such activities as 'live' walkthroughs, clash detection, problem solving, co-ordination or spatial issues and may include internal teams or external teams.
4. Develop further knowledge of REVIT, Navisworks, AutoCAD and associated packages being used.
5. Develop and integrate 3D, 4D, 5D & 6D principles and apply to software packages (e.g. Revit, CostX, and Navisworks etc.).
6. Be aware and adopt principles held in the BEP throughout the working life of the project.
7. Work within and follow the processes, workflows and procedures set out within project guidance for successful information exchange on projects, ensuring timely delivery.
8. Work within an established common data environment where necessary or applicable and interface with all relevant parties.
9. Advise on modelling best practice.
10. Validate model compliance against BEP, RIBA stages and agreed Information Exchanges.
11. Model coordination and interrogation, ensure models work together (federate as necessary), maintain master model, ensure information remains interoperable, clash detection, quality checks, data conversion.
12. Liaise with Central Design Working Group to ensure changes in internal procedure and standards are effectively communicated across all internal project teams.
13. Manage and maintain project content and source additional content for project teams where required.
14. Helping to technically deliver BIM projects in the role of BIM coordination.
15. Prepare project BIM execution plans.
16. Review of clash reports with the project team, and the general contractor and lead this process when needed and assign clashes to agreed project team members.
What you’ll need:
Knowledge
* A good working knowledge of core BIM Standards including The UK BIM Framework including ISO 19650, PAS 91 and an understanding of IFC.
* Good Knowledge and experience in Autodesk Design Suite and associated technologies.
* In-depth knowledge of Autodesk Revit 2018 and above, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience of using Revit on design/construction projects.
* Knowledge of Autodesk Navisworks, with experience of running clash detection, and producing clash reports.
* Good knowledge of 2D/3D AutoCAD.
The following would be desirable but are not essential:
* Experience working in an architectural/engineering or a construction production environment.
* Knowledge of Dynamo for Revit, and the ability to read and write scripts.
* Microsoft Office 2015 or higher, BIM 360 Team / C4R.
* Knowledge in ArchiCad, MicroStation, and Aecosim.
* Solibri experience.
* Experience in using Common Data Environments such as BIM 360 Docs, Viewpoint for Projects, and Aconex.
* Previous experience with BIM projects from RIBA Stage 2 – 6.
* Experience in working with Point Cloud Models.
