Overall Duties:
1. Planning/programming:
Plan internal and external logistics routes through the project phases focusing on separation of vehicles, machinery and people. Lay down areas and offloading points.
Responsible for ensuring logistics activities are not a constraining factor on the program.
2. Implementation:
Responsible for, & setting up of, all traffic & pedestrian management internally and externally.
Maintenance of all logistic routes (surface condition, barriers & signage) & road network cleanliness.
3. Delivery management:
Control materials in and out of site & the use/allocation of forklifts through the administration of the delivery management system (Datascope).
Enforce the full use of the DMS (delivery management system).
Provide logistics instruction to all supply chain partners.
Plan and integrate with key contractors to meet the needs of the planned programme and de-confliction of on-site space and time where appropriate.
Manage all movements to and from site and keeping associated records.
Ensure that drivers and vehicles meet the required standards before being accepted to site.
4. Safety:
Ensure that Tilbury Douglas's (TD) safety policies & procedures are followed.
Responsible for ensuring that material movement to and from the workface does not cause damage to the works, the workforce or the public.
Complete safety inspections in line with TD's policies & procedures.
Ensure logistics team has & is up to date with all relevant safety training.
Create appropriate logistics awareness training and deliver to site workforce via presentation/TBTs as required.
5. Fire:
Maintain fire points and all common lifesaving equipment in line with the Emergency procedures.
6. Plant, equipment and vertical transport:
Maintain an asset register of all equipment.
Ensure plant is operated safely by trained personnel and in a legally compliant manner.
Ensure all equipment is inspected, maintained and tested to agreed frequencies.
7. Logistics Team:
Be capable of managing a team of operatives & gateman(s) in facilitation of material distribution & waste management.
Identify training requirements as required.
Desirable skills and competencies:
1. A track record of delivery within a construction management or logistics function (over the past 3 years).
2. Excellent communication skills.
3. IT skills (eg PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
Qualifications:
1. CSCS card - required.
2. SSSTS - required.
3. First Aid - optional.
4. Traffic marshall training - required.
