I have a BRILLIANT opportunity for a Senior Children's Support Worker to join a STUNNING children's residential service supporting young people between the ages of 8-18 who present a range of emotional, behavioural & complex interpersonal behavioural needs.
We are looking for a COMMITTED and PASSIONATE individual who wants to make a difference in the lives of young people; to enable them to develop socially, emotionally and behaviourally in a setting where they feel safe and cared for.
Salary: £33,146 - £36,386 (sleep allowance included)
Location: Newtown, Powys (SY16 postcode)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week plus sleeps
Rota Pattern: 2 on 4 off shift pattern

As a Senior Children's Support Worker, you will:
* Lead by example and support the management team to run the shift
* Take greater responsibility for mentoring and supporting newer staff members
* Encourage young people to participate in activities and take responsibility for their own lives depending on their age.
* Keep the homely, friendly culture and environment of the homes.
* Deal with challenging behaviours when needed.
* Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare.
* Provide support for the children and young people in the home and promoting their independence and well-being.
* Maintain a safe environment for young people.
* Ensurethe safety of the students and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of the individual's; care plan, guidelines, reward system and preferred method of communication.
* Support taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically.
* Develop and maintaining good working relationships with the staff, parents, Social Workers and other professionals involved in the young people's lives such as Psychologists.
Requirements:
* NVQ or QCF Level 3 in Children and Young People or equivalent is ESSENTIAL
* 2-year experience in a residential children's home environment is ESSENTIAL
* A Full Driving Licence is ESSENTIAL as you may be required to transport the children from time to time
* Ability to work the shift pattern (8am-10pm plus sleep ins)
