The role of bed manager is to provide non-clinical support to the site management team by collecting, co-ordinating and communicating bed availability information. The post holder will be responsible to the Clinical Site Manager for co-ordinating the flow of patients through the organisation within delegated and agreed processes and the prompt escalation where any aspect of patient flow risks quality of care for patients. To ensure the efficient use of beds for all specialities throughout the hospital balancing the needs of elective admissions against the requirements of emergency admissions. To provide the hospital with a single source of accurate and up to date information at all times on bed occupancy and Emergency Department waiting times. Oversee collection, collation & dissemination of confirmed, predicted & delayed discharge information through the Clinical Site Managers at operational meetings throughout the day. Ensure all emergency admissions are allocated a bed in a timely manner to ensure that the four-hour access target is achieved consistently. Liaise with and between the Emergency Department, Emergency Assessment Units, and inpatient areas to find appropriate beds for all emergency admissions Maintain and provide to others an accurate bed state at all times during hours of work. Completion of regular simple reports and the communication of these to senior managers and clinicians. Attend daily operational meetings and ensure all key staff are aware of the live bed status in a timely manner. There’s never been a more exciting time to join TeamQEH.
