Main Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Regional Commercial Director, the role of Internal Sales Manager will manage Internal Account Managers, an Internal Sales Supervisors, Internal Sales Coordinators and administration to drive performance, develop a multi skilled approach, to ensure teams are working effectively and to ensure all potential is maximised to drive sales activities and achieve predetermined volume, profit and revenue targets.
The Internal Sales Manager will also:
1. Delivering annual budgeted volumes, pricing and margin through their teams
2. Develop and manage the Internal Sales Team and their results via a performance management framework, leading the team through defining and agreeing performance requirements, providing support and coaching where necessary
3. Ensure commercial targets are aligned to the production plan and achieved through an approach aligned to Commercial Excellence expectations and requirements
4. Build and maintain relationships with the Distribution Team, Sales Team (Internal and External), customers and colleagues
5. Work closely alongside regional logistics teams to ensure sales activity is aligned to haulage plans and capacity
6. Drive performance and improvement initiatives coaching and mentoring the team as necessary
7. Ensure the nationally agreed best practice process and systems are used by the teams, developing and improving where appropriate
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for the role of Internal Sales Manager will have proven people management ability managing successful sales teams preferably within a similar industry. Experience inspiring business performance and driving improvements is also preferred.
To be successful in the role of Internal Sales Manager suitable candidates will also possess:
8. Experience successfully managing budgeting, forecasting, financial reviews
9. Strong negotiation and exceptional customer service skills including the ability to listen and accurately understand customer needs
10. Ability to effectively coach with a focus on sales techniques
11. Capability to deliver customer service excellence
12. Ability to handle conflict situations is a positive manner without compromising company liability
13. Proven experience developing and monitoring performance measures within a team
14. Capability to successfully influence and persuade others
15. Flexible and adaptable approach – to prioritise, plan and monitor own / team activity and successfully progress
16. Strong decision-making skills and the ability to successfully consider all options, risks and commercial gain
17. High level of emotional intelligence to effectively operate at all levels in the business
18. A clear understanding of concepts and principles across multi-site roles in particular the operational capacity and capability of sites to ensure sales targets are fully aligned to production
