Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council - require: Care Worker - Social
To cover shifts: annual leave; sickness etc.
The worker must have good verbal communication skills (English). The worker will be required to be a female for this shift and must be local to Merthyr.
Essential:
1. Completion of 10 hour online Welsh Work course.
2. QCF Level 2 in Care or a similar qualification recognized by Social Care Wales, or willingness to undertake this within the first year of employment.
3. Competent in the following topics or ability to complete training:
1. Safeguarding
2. Care with medicines
3. Control of infection
4. Food Safety
5. Moving & Handling
6. Fire safety
7. Sensory impairment
8. Mental health awareness
9. Continence care
10. Care & responsibility
11. First aid
Commitment to undertake training which is relevant to the individuals who are being supported.
At least 1 year’s experience in a social care role within a registered setting would be preferred.
Skills:
1. Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing.
2. Demonstrate understanding for good interpersonal skills and the ability to work to these requirements.
3. Demonstrate enthusiasm & commitment to the provision of quality residential services.
4. Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
5. Ability to work as part of a team to assist in resolving problems and finding innovative solutions, ensuring that relevant information is recorded and feedback to the management team.
6. Maintain confidentiality and GDPR.
7. Support outcomes which contribute to meaningful lives.
8. Understand the needs, values, and rights of people with assessed care and support needs.
9. Demonstrate knowledge of the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016 and the code of conduct for social care workers.
10. Demonstrate an understanding of all aspects of care provision based on QCF principles & standards.
