Lockwood Group of Companies, a leading transportation and logistics provider, are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Senior Transport Planner at our Ambergate, DE56 2JR depot. This position offers the opportunity to work with a high-profile account, managing the end-to-end logistics operation and ensuring a smooth flow of goods. Previous experience or experience of a similar role is essential. Must have strong geographical knowledge, be motivated and able to work on own initiative. Shift pattern: Monday – Friday days (additional days & hours may be required dependent upon customer demand) Working hours: 09:00 – 17:30 Salary range is £35,000 - £45,000, depending upon relevant skills and experience. Training There will be a requirement for training to take place at our sister depot, S&R Smith and Son (RM20 4EL) for a minimum of 2-4 weeks. The Role Key responsibilities are as follows:- Responsible for a high-profile account – point of contact for the customer transport queries Planning of work, grouping deliveries to promote efficiencies, accountable for efficient and effective planning of work Working closely with our Transport Planning Manager at Ambergate to promote efficiencies within the whole fleet of vehicles Working closely with our Backload & Subcontracting controller to ensure vehicles are utilised efficiently. Work which does not fit our vehicle profile must be highlighted and an alternative solution found. Re-planning of work when loads are adjusted/changed along with adjusting loading times Re-planning of work in the event of driver absences Updating traffic systems throughout the shift Notifying drivers of changes Arrange driver paperwork accordingly Brief/de-brief drivers Other general office duties i.e. dealing with incoming telephone queries, filing and dealing with any associated queries The Person Main requirements for the individual are:- Logistics knowledge and traffic office experience Ability to work within an extended team, constant communication between multiple depots is imperative to ensure of a smooth operation Ability to manage use of TMS Ability to communicate effectively and in a professional and positive manner Must be able to perform within a fast paced and pressured environment and look for proactive solutions for volatility To demonstrate a proactive approach and ability to work both in a team and individual environment Transport Manager CPC would be advantageous but not essential.
