The Digital team are recruiting a Data Management and Governance Lead to work within our Enterprise Data Programme, an enabler of Strategy 2030: “to use the power of our education and research, through our people, place and partnerships to lead progress towards a sustainable, healthy and socially just future.” The programme will implement a new Enterprise Data Service providing a centralised data capability including: Proactive data management across the entire data lifecycle Clear data governance, ownership and stewardship Expert support to data consumers through increased data analysis and literacy skills Rapid access to disparate data New data insights tools and techniques Successful implementation of the service will support the shift in organisation culture to be data-led informing the continuous improvement of products and services. What you’ll be doing… Investigate, map, and manage the University’s data assets, creating clarity and highlighting opportunities Co-create and implement a data management and governance framework that complements the current Information Governance Framework and is aligned with Exeter University's 2030 strategy. Develop and enforce university-wide data management and governance policies, standards, and procedures. Establish and manage controls for data quality, metadata management, data lineage, and data privacy. Collaborate with stakeholders to develop data insights, guidance, and action plans for data management. Provide expert advice to senior leadership and support tactical initiatives. Drive alignment and adoption of data best practices across the university. Maintain a network of industry professionals to stay updated on trends and regulatory requirements. Strong knowledge of data privacy and protection regulations, such as GDPR, and experience ensuring compliance within large organisations. A deep understanding of data management concepts like data modelling, classification, and lifecycle management. Strong project management skills, including experience leading cross-functional teams and delivering initiatives on time and within budget, along with line management experience.
