We have an opportunity for an energetic, enthusiastic and well-motivated individual to join the Molecular Diagnostics Department at the Royal Surrey Foundation Trust for a full time permanent position.
The Department is part of Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Services (BSPS). It is an ISO accredited service providing specialist molecular diagnostic services for BSPS departments, associated Trust clinicians and external laboratories in five NHS Trusts across the region. The department provides a variety of genetic services for diagnosis of patients and enabling genetically-personalised oncology treatments.

We are looking for a recent graduate or scientist looking to start a career in healthcare diagnostics. They should have a keen eye for detail and work well in a team environment.
Main duties of the job
Key responsibility will be assisting in the provision of diagnostic services to clinicians and patients throughout the network. It is expected that the post-holder will be able to assist laboratory processes by taking responsibility for operating sophisticated equipment and handling patient samples.
Opportunities to develop as a scientist and progress in the profession will be available.

Job responsibilities
To participate in the provision of an efficient and cost effective Molecular Diagnostic service within Surrey and Berkshire Pathology Services.
To receipt and prepare samples and perform routine laboratory techniques efficiently and in a conscientious manner with respect to work pressures and quality of the service.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* 'A' levels in science-based subjects
Knowledge
* Ability to write clearly.
* Possess basic IT skills & keyboard accuracy.
* Previous work within the NHS.
* Data Entry experience (Winpath).
