About the Role
As an Autism Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support to children and young people with autism. You will assist in their educational, social and emotional development, ensuring that their individual needs are met through structured interventions and positive reinforcement strategies.
Essential Qualities That We Are Looking For:
* Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students with autism in classroom and specialist settings.
* Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.
* Foster positive relationships with students, promoting engagement, self-regulation and social interaction.
* Support the emotional well-being and sensory needs of students through structured activities and interventions.
* Encourage and facilitate independent learning while providing necessary scaffolding and guidance.
* Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists and external professionals to support students' development.
* Promote and uphold safeguarding and well-being standards, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.
The Successful Candidate Will:
* Previous experience working with children or young people with autism or special educational needs (SEN) is highly desirable.
* A relevant qualification in Education, Psychology, Health & Social Care, or SEN Support is advantageous but not essential.
* Understanding of autism and associated needs, including sensory processing challenges and communication difficulties.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
* A patient, empathetic and proactive approach to supporting children with additional needs.
* Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to challenging situations with resilience and professionalism.

* Have the right to work in the UK.
* Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
* Have an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
