Job summary
An exciting opportunity has risen to join a committed and dynamic team within the Planned Care & Specialised Services Group at Morriston Hospital. As Associate Service Group Director you will work alongside Medical and Nursing leads in developing and managing services to deliver quality care for our patients.
This is a key post that will hold a significant portfolio spanning all our planned care services. The successful candidate will lead for all planned care services including developing close working relationships with our specialist services commissioners. There is an ambition to develop regional and partnership working on key patient pathways, using resources efficiently and improving outcomes for patients; the postholder will have excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will require experience at a service management level, experience of successfully delivering projects and will have led your teams to deliver high-quality, cost-effective patient care. They will be results focussed with an in-depth knowledge of the span of performance metrics associated with the portfolio.
The service group consists of the Integrated Surgical Services Group - general surgery, vascular, head and neck, urology, radiology and HSDU, and the Specialised Surgical Services Group - cardiac services, Burns & plastics, pathology, critical care and dermatology.

Qualifications Essential
* Masters degree or equivalent experience.
* Professional knowledge over a range of disciplines which will ensure the effective management of several complex service groups as well as taking a Delivery Unit responsibility e.g. Provider Contracts, IMTP, Operational Resilience, Planning, Research, HR, Finance, Clinical Delivery and Governance underpinned by specialist courses or equivalent experience. This level of knowledge would have been obtained over a significant period of senior management posts held within an NHS organisation.
* Service Improvement qualification (Bronze)

* Breadth of knowledge across all health services from primary to tertiary care.

Experience Essential
* Proven track records of meeting significant National targets.
* Evidence of significant experience in line management of staff. Experience of managing performance and ensuring targets and performance indicators are met.
* Significant experience in financial management, budget setting, monitoring and determining corrective action.
* Proven success of managing highly complex organisational change whilst also developing and maintaining high quality standards of care. Experience of successful project management.
* Experience of dealing with highly complex issues in a large organisation. Skills and experience in leading on significant service improvement.
Aptitude and abilities Essential
* Evidence of report writing skills, service planning and presentation skills. Ability to demonstrate high level leadership skill in a highly complex, politically sensitive and changing environment. Skills in analysing complex and highly specialised information from various sources.
* Ability to work as part of a team but also accepting responsibility and accountability for performance. Demonstrate tact, diplomacy and political awareness. Ability to relate to staff of all disciplines and seniority.
* Ability to plan strategically in the medium and longer term for change and service improvement. Ability to establish partnership working with stakeholders - internal and external to the Trust.
