Transport SupervisorTo manage the day-to-day transport activities to achieve greater efficiencies for the business and improve productivity while delivering the budgeted volume each day. The transport supervisor will ultimately be responsible for the management of the drivers, the routing of the vehicles and the health and safety around the depots and the vehicles.Ideally you will hold CPC in Transport to be the O License holder.The main responsibilities are:
Maintaining good relations with the drivers and sales staff.
Working closely with the Depot Manager to ensure that the deliveries are on time and that we are maximizing the efficiencies of the vehicles every day.
Maintain OTIF levels of over 90% across the financial year
Working closely with the sales team to understand the top customers and ensure we are able to grow through improving efficiencies and enable us to deliver more litres per tanker to our domestic, commercial & agricultural business
Maintain open dialogue and good interactions with all service providers.
Undertake the operations of the transport and scheduling of vehicles to ensure they remain safe and that customers receive their deliveries on time.
Ensure that deliveries are on time and that we exceed customer expectations.
Undertake the routing through dedicated routing software to ensure that efficient, structured routes are planned for drivers and review the routing with depot teams to maximize any synergies across the trading area.
Ensure that the drivers are operating safely and compliant with all DVSA and company regulations
Ensure that the vehicles are legal and fit for purpose through management of the service schedules, MOTs, Tank tests and other carriage of dangerous goods and road transport regulations.
Ensure that the drivers have had adequate training on the depot loading skid and offloading of the vehicles safely.
Ensure that drivers licenses & accreditations are current and that all training is completed on time.
Maintain the drivers daily pre use inspection regime and manage the rectification of vehicle defects as required to return the vehicle to service.
Sourcing multiple quotes for items of major expense
Monitoring costs monthly to ensure all vehicle overheads are in line with budget and challenge where they are unexpected.
Plan the testing of vehicles in quieter times to minimize the financial impact to the depot operation.
Ensure that the depot inspections are completed on a regular basis in line with the company policy and manage the rectification of identified defects.
Oversee the timely completion of incident reports for any occurrence.
Ensure the depot standard operating procedures are communicated to all drivers and are adhered to at all times.
Assist in the delivery of toolbox meetings to convey specific information to direct reports.
Undertake periodic inspections of vehicles and drivers documentation to ensure continued compliance and high standards of vehicle cleanliness are maintained.
