Your new role
As a senior general practice accountant, you will be joining a team of 10 other specialists, reporting into your manager and partners daily. Your day-to-day duties will include servicing a portfolio of clients including SMEs and sole traders, producing statutory accounts, preparing management accounts, VAT returns, and forecasts. You will also take the lead in the preparation of tax computations, acting as the first point of contact with clients and assisting them daily. As a senior, you will oversee junior members of staff, reviewing their work and managing them daily, while reporting to the partners. As this is a general practice, you will also get exposure to audit work, assisting to manage audit assignments and preparing the files to a high standard.
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this general practice role, you will need a minimum of 4 years working with an accountancy firm in a similar role. You should be either a finalist in your ACCA or ACA professional qualifications, or QBE level (Qualified accountants will also be accepted). It is important that you have prepared statutory or management accounts previously and also have experience with an audit file.
