Principal/Associate Mechanical Engineer
Location: Manchester Office
We are expanding our Mechanical Engineering team and are seeking a driven and experienced Principal/Associate Mechanical Engineer.
Role Overview: Reporting to the Director, you will lead the delivery and project management of Mechanical Services Design on assigned projects, providing M&E representation. Your responsibilities will include maintaining and improving the quality and efficiency of Mechanical Services design and post-contract implementation, while supporting and mentoring junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead multiple projects
* Manage the production of scheme design drawings
* Develop mechanical services strategies
* Prepare M&E specifications, including environmental strategies
* Assist in the preparation of elemental M&E cost plans
* Contribute to Stage 2 and 3 MEP Reports
* Manage post-contract stages, ensuring information flow aligns with the contract works programme
* Monitor Mechanical Installation works against Mechanical Services Design
* Assist Project QS in cost control
* Establish project briefs, fees, and timescales, ensuring junior personnel are informed
* Ensure mechanical engineering output meets quality criteria
* Provide technical support to junior engineers and technicians
* Prepare Mechanical Services Scheme Design proposals
About You:
* Degree qualified, ideally working towards chartered status
* Proven project experience
* Strong project management, delivery, and quality record
* Excellent people and client-facing skills
* Capable of working independently to solve engineering and management challenges
* Valid UK Driving Licence (preferable)
* Willingness to travel for meetings and projects, including occasional overnight stays in the UK, Europe, or overseas
* Experience with design software such as CAD, Revit, and Bluebeam
