This opportunity is ideal for a solicitor with a genuine interest in rural affairs and experience in agricultural or rural property law. You'll join a specialist team advising a diverse range of clients including farmers, landowners, estates, and agribusinesses.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Manage your own caseload of agricultural and commercial property matters from start to finish, including sales, purchases, lettings, and licences involving farmland, rural buildings, and estates.
2. Advise on land development and diversification projects, such as promotion and option agreements, and renewable energy schemes.
3. Draft and negotiate a range of agricultural property agreements, with support from paralegals and collaboration across the team.
4. Provide legal input on estate management, including succession planning, AHA and FBT tenancies, and rights of way.
5. Work closely with colleagues in other departments to advise clients on regulatory, commercial, and compliance issues affecting rural businesses.
6. Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships with landowners, farmers, and estate managers.
7. Stay informed on legal and policy developments in agricultural, land use, and environmental law.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
1. Qualified solicitor (England & Wales), in property or agricultural law.
2. Strong technical knowledge of rural property matters.
3. Excellent client-facing and communication skills.
4. A genuine interest in countryside affairs and rural communities.
5. Experience working with farming businesses, estates, or landowners is highly desirable.
